Why We Built NineReco
Search engines can tell you what exists nearby. They can't tell you what's actually worth your time. That's the gap NineReco exists to close.

Every day, people ask the same question in a hundred different forms: what should I try next? Where should I eat tonight? Which of these five nearly-identical products is actually good? Search engines are excellent at listing options and terrible at telling you which ones are worth your time.
Star ratings tell only part of the story. A high average does not explain whether a place suits your budget, your needs or the occasion. We find it more useful to hear why someone recommends it, what they tried and what they would change. The UK Competition and Markets Authority's guidance on fake reviews is another reason to read beyond the headline score.
NineReco started from that observation. We wanted a place where you can read what a member recommends and why, then decide whether their taste lines up with yours. You can browse public recommendations without signing in. A named profile and a specific reason give you more context, though neither proves an opinion is impartial.
We're still early. The product you see today is a first version, and there's a lot we want to get right before we're finished: making it easier to find recommendations near you, making it obvious which ones come from people you actually trust, and giving you a reason to come back beyond the first visit. This blog is where we'll talk about that process openly — what we're building, what we got wrong, and what's next.
